UZBEKISTAN: The IsDB, the OPEC International Development Fund and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have launched the Sustainable Rural Development project in collaboration with the Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, a statement confirmed.
The project aims to improve the quality of the basic infrastructure of the rural population, among others. The construction of roads, transport infrastructure, engineering and communication networks as well as the development of schools and preschool educational institutions fall under the project.
The construction and reconstruction of facilities and infrastructure under the project will be implemented by 170 self-government bodies. The UNDP was appointed as a partner of the ministry to support activities related to sustainable infrastructure management during the project period.
