MALAYSIA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is exploring the establishment of an Islamic Social Exchange to strengthen ESG programs especially to support the poor and the needy, SC Chairman Dr Awang Adek Hussin said during his welcome address at the 14th SC–Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Roundtable 2023.
The chairman also mentioned that SRI Sukuk issuances under the SC’s SRI Sukuk Framework in 2022 amounted to US$2.26 billion. Since 2014, SRI Sukuk issuances have reached a total of US$4.1 billion.
