MALAYSIA: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries will launch the Agro-Food Takaful Insurance Scheme to strengthen food security, The Edge reported. The government-backed scheme will compensate farmers for losses after natural disasters. It will be initially offered to 189,500 rice farmers. The scheme will be expanded in stages to sectors including fisheries and other sub–sectors of the food industry.
