GLOBAL: The General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) has conducted a roundtable meeting regarding greenhouse gas emissions measurement in Islamic banking and finance, according to an official statement. The meeting discussed, among others, the measurement methodology of CIBAFI’s greenhouse gas emissions initiative which aims to develop a greenhouse gas emissions measurement methodology tailored for Islamic financial institutions.
Separately, CIBAFI also collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and the IsDB to host an affiliated event at the MENA Climate Week 2023 in Riyadh, titled ‘Mobilizing Islamic Finance for Climate Action’, according to another official statement. During the panel discussion, the speakers provided insights into efforts in Islamic banking, sustainability and climate change.
