MALAYSIA: Shariah compliant Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX) has signed an MoU with impact standard-setter Gold Standard during the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), according to an official statement. Through the partnership, BCX can enhance the offerings on the carbon exchange and increase the knowledge of its ecosystem players in areas such as the process of registering a carbon project to the operationalization of methodologies and standard-setting initiatives by Gold Standard.
The BCX also signed a memorandum of collaboration with Sarawak Energy, Hydropower Sustainability Alliance and the I-REC Standard Foundation during the event to, among others, explore potential supply of renewable energy certificates (REC) from Sarawak Energy and to facilitate cross-border REC trading and international attribute tracking standards for RECs using the I-REC platform, according to another official statement.
